The Fenix E01 is one of the most popular Fenix lights on the market. One of the things that make this light so popular is its ultra-compact size. This light is small enough that it can literally be taken anywhere making it a true EDC light. With the Fenix E01, you can choose from five different anodized finishes: olive, black, purple, blue, and gold. This means you can choose a light that really reflects your style.

The compact light uses a Nichia white GS LED that comes with a 100,000-hour lifespan. The E01 uses a single AAA battery, but can also use a rechargeable Ni-MH battery, to emit 13 lumens. The single AAA battery will provide up to 21 hours of light. Of the 21 hours of battery life, 11 of those hours are sun-mode and the remaining 10 are moon mode. The digitally regulated output maintains constant brightness in both sun and moon mode. Sun mode emits 13 lumens of light, while moon mode emits around 10 lumens.

Fenix E01 Features & Benefits

User Interface

The Fenix E01 offers one of the most user-friendly interfaces you will find in a keychain style light. There are no side switches or tail cap buttons to worry about. Powering the light is done via a reliable twist switch. To turn the light on you need to tighten the head of the light. Turning it off requires you to loosen the head of the light until the beam goes out. As the light only has one brightness level, you won’t have to worry about switching output modes.

With the small size of the Fenix E01, you might be worried about how well it will hold up. This compact light is a lot tougher than it first looks. To ensure long durability the Fenix E01 is made from aircraft grade aluminum. The hard body has been shown to be impact resistance for several feet. It also provides excellent protection against bumps and dings from being carried. The Fenix E01 features an IPX-8 rating. With this rating, the Fenix E01 can be submerged in six feet of water for up to 30 minutes without suffering any permanent damage. Probably one of the biggest selling points to this light is that the head has “potted” electronics. What this means is that they fill the electronics portion with a waterproof resin that cures and keeps everything in place. This makes the flashlight almost 100% waterproof and pretty much shockproof since everything is held in place.

Even with small lights you sometimes need the ability to have a hands-free option. With the Fenix E01 attaching to a keychain many assume it is unable to tail stand. The split ring used to secure the light to a keychain attaches to the tail end of the light, but down below the base. With where the split ring attaches the Fenix E01 has the ability to be stood on end to serve as a candle for hands-free lighting when needed.

Social Proof

If you are in the market for a keychain style light, the Fenix E01 is an excellent choice. The Fenix E01 is one of the most popular lights sold by Fenix and after spending hours reading various reviews it is easy to see why. The compact, yet durable light offers true every day carry capabilities so you have it when you need it most. While the overall opinion of the Fenix E01 is good that doesn’t mean it doesn’t have its flaws. One of the biggest complaints made is the lack of brightness levels. Not having to cycle through modes allows for a user-friendly interface. Plus the Fenix E01 emits 13 lumens of light which is more than enough for most tasks requiring a small light.
