The Streamlight 69110 TLR-1 Weapon Mount Tactical Light includes the following keys:
|
|
|
|
---|---|---|---|
GL (Standard):This key fits Glock or 'universal' rails. These have a cross slot about 5/32-inch wide. The Standard system key appears somewhat thinner than the Picatinny key. |
MIL-STD-1913 'Picatinny':The 1913 key is wider than the standard key. Slots are 0.206-inch wide. Some guns with a Picatinny rail still need a standard key depending on the construction of the rail. |
Smith & Wesson 99/TSW:This key has the bar extended farther back than the other keys. They are for rails having a non-standard (too short) distance between the slot and the trigger guard. |
Beretta 90two:This key looks like it has a Picatinny rail but dimensions are different. M-Lights should not be used on the 90two and will fall off under recoil. |
Streamlight 69110 TLR-1 Full Compatibility List:
Securely fits a broad range of weapons. Fits most existing light bearing holsters.
The recommendations listed apply to full-size weapons unless otherwise noted.
BERETTA:
- Cx4 Storm (carbine/rifle)- 1913 key
- Px4 Storm (pistol) - GL (Standard) key. note: M-lights are very loose
- Vertec - New polymer key- 1913; Older aluminum key – GL (Standard) Key
CZ: P-01 - Should work with GL (Standard) key; (Not tested; based on similar European version)
FN: 5.7 (with Picatinny style rail) -1913 key
GLOCK: Any with rails – GL (Standard) key. Cannot fit Glocks that are not equipped with factory rails
HK:
- USP (full size) uses our HK adapter 69085 with a GL (Standard) key.; (Compact) uses our HK adapter 69091 with a GL (Standard) key
- HK P2000 is supposed to have Picatinny rail (NOT CHECKED)
- HK P30 -1913 key
NOTE: The rail tilts down slightly from the bore. This may result in laser zeroing difficulty closer than 50 feet (depending on the tolerances of the pistol and laser).
KIMBER: TLE RLII (1911 with rail) – Picatinny key
RUGER:
- KP345 – GL (Standard) key
- SR-9 – GL (Standard) key
SIG SAUER:
- GSR or 1911 Style with flat bottom rail - Picatinny key
- ANY ALUMINUM FRAME SIG WITH A ROUND BOTTOM RAIL: Including the P220R, P229R, etc. The Sig round bottom rail departs from the true shape of both the 1913 and Universal standards and may cause an improper fit. The TLR will work with the 1913 key but THERE WILL BE DAMAGE to the finish of both the gun and the light. The retaining screw must be TIGHT. Newer Sig P series guns are supposed to have a true Picatinny rail. This has not been verified by Streamlight,
- SP2022 - Polymer frame. Same comments as for aluminum frames, EXCEPT that the polymer frame is a little thicker and does not show marks from a clamp because it is molded from black material. PER SIG, the TLR with the 1913 key works.
SMITH & WESSON: On the TSW and 99 models, the slot is too far back for the standard key and requires the special S&W key. There are many different models of TSW, but as long as it's a TSW WITH A RAIL, it uses the S&W key. Smith & Wesson M&P autoloader takes the Picatinny key.
- SIGMA – Cannot fit
SPRINGFIELD ARMORY:
- Operator (1911 with rail) – Picatinny key
- XD (4 & 5 inch barrels) – GL (Standard) key. Cannot fit 3” barrel.
WALTHER:
- 99 - New (2004 models) FULL SIZE ones are nearly the same as the S&W 99 and use the S&W key. Older ones (no slot across the rail and the side grooves CLOSED in front) cannot be fitted with a TLR.
- 99 Compact – Cannot fit. Rail is too short.
- P22 – Cannot fit. Non-standard rail.

The details of this product are defined in its description and in many reviews before mine, so no point in beating a dead horse. Let me try to illuminate a couple of basic things that may or may not affect you: opening the battery compartment is pretty easy, now, with the new latch. You just pull/push it all the way until it goes about 180 degrees and the thing pops open all on its own. I suppose this is a new design compared to the many complaints about tight latches from before. First time I've had one of these, so I can't really say. The multiple keys are nice, in case you have multiple weapons with rails that you're trying to attach this thing to and hadn't planned ahead. Really, one should just try to have all of the same rail so these are more easily switched in any case.
Unfortunately for me, I didn't look into this particular thing when I bought this. I bought a 1911 pistol that basically uses an STI frame, which uses some kind of slightly odd size rail. It seems to fit the glock key, but not well, as the glock key seems a bit tall. I had made the assumption, incorrectly, that the rail was a 1913 rail. This was entirely my fault, not Streamlight's, but I would like to see more than the four keys that seem to be available for this thing. A few small adjustments to this glock key should get me straightened out, as it currently will not sit on my pistol for longer than a few shots.
I would have preferred a more solid mounting for the rail, in general, rather than the quick-on/off idea that seems to be behind this type of rail. I'd rather have to pry it off with a couple of tools and be sure its on there than be able to switch it around a lot... and that would be my only real source of discontent with this product.
The strobe works pretty easily, though what actual tactical effect it might have is theoretical to me. I just bought this for the higher lumens of output compared to the standard TLR-1 and figured if it was useful, it would be nice to have, but wouldn't hurt me too much either way since I wouldn't be depending on it. Bought this for my night-stand pistol, and there are a few nice holsters that will fit the 1911 + TLR-1 combo well if you're inclined that way. I bought one just to have one and in case it is ever allowed as a duty weapon. I'd say I'm pretty happy with it, and as soon as I figure out this rail fit thing, I'm sure I'll get rid of that one little dissatisfaction as well. Overall, can't knock the product, just make sure your rail will fit one of the keys.
*********************************************************
Okay, so I've now owned this thing for awhile. Today is 11/13/13.
The light is still going strong. My previous problem with the quick attach/detach option was that the light didn't fit that pistol correctly. I have since put it on a CZ SP-01 using the 1913 rail key. You are supposed to use a coin or most anything wide and flat to tighten the locking mechanism all the way. When the key actually fits, and you do this, the light stays on there all day. I haven't had it move since I figured this basic thing out and got less stubborn about it sitting on my odd-ball pistol rail.
I highly recommend this as a weapon light. It works great. The few extra bucks for the extra lumens of light seem worth it. The strobe isn't easy to leave on in the constant mode, but works well in the temporary mode, which I gather is the most desirable use. It was neat to play with, but I don't see the point for your average person. Upgraded my review to 5 stars.
After a whole bunch of searching around, for everything from the cheaply made plastic $30 lights (that would fly off the gun down range after a few shots) to the $200+ surefire lights... I settled on this as the best weapon light for the money. I have a Beretta M9A1 and this light works and looks like it was made for my Beretta. The fit and finish are amazing, the better light output (of the TLR-1s) is enough to temporarily blind anyone unfortunate enough to get it shined in their eyes. The added strobe is quite disorienting to anyone on the other end of it (red spots in vision that last for about a minute if you look into the light). I love the placement of the two way toggle switch for left or right handed, and one and two handed grip styles. It can be switched into the on position or pushing the opposite direction will keep it on for as long as you hold the switch. Good for those situations where you may or may not need the light on at all times. It is set up in a way that even in a panic situation (a.k.a. loading your pants) you can have the muscle memory to turn it on. Much better than the little rubber push button lights I have tried out.
Using the light in dark/low light situations can even help with aiming as the center of the light spot is right where I would be aiming for. So if the bright spot of the light is covering the center of the target at about 5 to 15 feet, there was a 95% chance I would hit it without using the sights.
The main reason I got this light was the fact that it is all aluminum, it is tried and tested, and the way it clamps onto the gun is better than any "quick release" style rail light I have seen yet. I tightened it on as well as possible because I really don't have a use for "quick release". Though it does come off easy enough in case that is your thing. It came included with two fully charged batteries, and three different rail mount "Keys" so it will fit your particular style without any "Wriggle". My Beretta has a 1913 picatinny rail and it locks onto it beautifully. I cannot attest to the weaver or glock style rails though it fits on my friends composite SigPro 2022 with no problem. Mounted on the Sig 2022 the light sticks out past the muzzle about an inch, so it doesn't look as good as it does on the Beretta M9/92s where it is perfectly flush with the muzzle.
Took it to the range and fired off close to 150 rounds of 124gr +p 9mm rounds with the light on the whole time, and it never so much as flickered. I turned it off and put it away and then checked the light out the next day, and it didn't skip a beat.
*NEW UPDATE* April 2013
Been using this light for nearly 2 years now, always on my gun, THOUSANDS of rounds and still looks and functions beautifully! Still blindingly bright and never fails to function. I have received compliments that the light looks like it was MADE specially for the Beretta 92A1 series of pistols.
If they ever make one with a Green strobing laser under it I will buy it in a split second!
*Will update this if anything happens at the next few visits to the range*
---BOTTOM LINE---
If you have a full sized handgun with an accessory rail then this is the light to get! Especially on the Beretta 92A1, M9A1, and 96A1 pistols.
