We put it upon ourselves to make a list of the flashlights in the market that were “Flashlights Made In The USA”. I put that in quotes because we do not believe that any LEDs are made in the USA so right off of the bat there is a problem with 100% compliance to the standard of made in the USA.
We will compile a list that is at the least companies that are in the USA and we will categorize them from top to bottom based on how much of the flashlight is made in the USA.
The range will go from all of the parts aside from the necessary electronics (that are only made out of the country) are made in the USA all of the way down to that everything about the flashlight is made outside of the country but the company is still a US based company.
Mostly USA Made And Assembled
Elzetta is based out of Lexington, Kentucky. They focus on the idea that they want to “build flashlights for others the way you would have others build flashlights for you.” Their flashlights are “built-to-order in the USA”. They say that “All Elzetta products are designed, engineered, and manufactured in the USA using American tooling, labor, and materials.”
They also specifically point out that if you contact them by phone or email that you will get a reply from a English-speaking U.S. citizen.
The Elzetta Bones is a easy no nonsense flashlight with simple on and off functionality. This light puts out 650 Lumens which seems low compared to other lights on the market but Elzetta is all about being straight forward and honest. They also focus on durability and working no matter what.Learn More On Amazon
First Light USA
First-Light USA is based out of Seymour, Illinois. We could not find anywhere on their site where they say where these lights are made but on some of their promotional material on Youtube they use the line “Designed Here, Made Here”. First-Light focuses on the ergonomics and design of flashlights for Law Enforcement and Military use. Because of this their light are not designed like most tube style lights.
The Torq is one of First-Light's entry level lights and it shows off their pistol grip style ergonomics. This is designed so it is easy to hold along site a pistol when you are aiming. This light also come with a 360 degree rotating head so if you mount it on a chest rig or anything else you can point the light beam where you would like.Learn More On Amazon
HDS Systems is based out of Tucson, Arizona. They have been in business for 36 years (since 1983) and counting. They are very clear about being “built in the USA”. We have read that HDS systems is almost completely designed and made in the USA but they choose the rigidly stick to the idea that “made in the USA” means that no “major” parts of the system are from outside of the country and they consider the LED a major part of the system. So instead of saying “made in the USA” they say “Built in the USA”.
MagLite is based out of Ontario, California. Mag Instruments is very focused on having as much of their entire company and parts being from the USA. They state that their entire manufacturing workforce works in Southern California. At the same time they admit that some components are either not available, over priced, or not of the highest quality in the USA so they source some components overseas even though they do not like it. In the end they call themselves “A U.S.A. Manufacturer” whose flashlights are “Built In America” and they strive to save a many American jobs as they can while still producing a quality product at an acceptable price.
The style of light that started it all for MagLite is the big D Cell flashlight that was as much a weapon as it was a light. This particular model has been upgraded to an LED from an incandescent bulb and it puts out 168 lumens for 80 hours.Learn More On Amazon
Malkoff is based out of Enterprise, Alabama. On each flashlight sales page they mention that the light is “Made in the USA. Some parts not domestically sourced.”
They have focused on durability and reliability. The main part of that being that it is fully potted so which means that all of the electronics and set and will not move.
Malkoff makes great light but the thing that really got them started was the idea of doing conversions of other flashlights. They started off with Maglite conversions and you can check out are article about that here. And then they moved on to SureFire 6P conversions. That is what this Malkoff M61 is. It is fully potted and puts out 425 lumens from two CR123 batteries.Learn More On Amazon
Ogaz Enterprises Inc. is based out of Ontario, California. They have been in business since 1981 as a small family owned CNC Machine Shop. They have been producing flashlights since 2001 when LEDs were first out. They produce high end hosts for different sizes of drop-ins and they produce full flashlights also. All of their flashlight hosts are made in house in Southern California and the full flashlights are assembled from some overseas components.
Phantom Products, Inc is based out of Rockledge, Florida. They produce lots of different lighting products with a focus on military lighting. There main lighting product being the Phantom Warrior light which is special since it is the only light on the market that produces pure visible light and no infrared light. This means that it is not seen by night vision goggles. We were not able to find any specific information about where the lights were produced and assembled but they do have “Made in USA” on their logo.
Photon (Laughing Rabbit Inc)
Laughing Rabbit Inc. is based out of Blachly, Oregon. They are most well known for their Photon Micro-Light series of lights but they also make a tube style flashlight called the Proton. They started out making their little lights in 1993 with an LED, shrink wrap, and a coin cell battery on their kitchen table. They source some components from overseas but all of their Micro-Lights are made in the USA and their team in Oregon hand builds all of them.
This is a simple product that we recommend all of the time. Just stick one of these on your zippers and you will always have a light on hand. They are very durable and they use very high end parts to make these little lights. That is why they are not as cheap as some of the other little lights that look very similar.Learn More On Amazon
Peak LED Solutions
Peak LED Solutions is based out of Pheonix, Arizona. They very clearly state on their website that their products are “Designed, Manufactured and Assembled in the USA” and they specifically say this is for electronics and flashlights. They do use Cree LEDs but it seems that they are doing the most they can to keep everything in the USA.
The Peak Eiger is the smallest of the lights that Peak produces. It is made to run off of a AAA sized battery but can use many different chemistries including a 3.7 volt Li-ion 10440 battery to get the maximum brightness. A couple of things that stand out about the Eiger is that they are fully potted which means that they are shock and water resistant since the head are filled and sealed with an epoxy. Also, the QTC technology that they use is a very straight forward and elegant solution to variable light output while still being very durable.
Prometheus Lights is based out of Mountain View, California. The owner Jason focuses on making the highest quality items in his own shop in California. They do produce lots of products that are not flashlights so those are probably all 100% made in the USA. Prometheus does specifically point out all of the locations where they are sourcing from for each product. For instance their biggest production AAA flashlight the Beta QRV2 Classic on the specifications tab shows that it is 100% made in China. Most of the other flashlights source parts from overseas but they are machined and assembled in the USA.
This light is one of the best AAA lights on the market. It used to be completely made in the US but as demand has increased Prometheus has started to outsource the production of this particular light to China. The part of this light that is particularly compelling in the QR part of the name. This stands for Quick Release and this light features one of the best quick release systems for a small keychain flashlight. It is easy to take on an off your keychain while not easily falling off. This light can not run on Li-ion but runs great on rechargeable NiMH AAA batteries. It comes with a great looking Nichia 219C High CRI LED that will put out a max of 90 lumens on high. This light also has a great “firefly” mode at just 1 lumen.Learn More On Amazon
SureFire is based out of Fountain Valley, California. SureFire's story starts in Southern California when a Ph.D. from Cal Tech started playing with how lasers could be used with handguns. In 1979 the patent for the laser site was made. A big boost to the company came in 1984 when the Los Angeles Police Department asked if they could use some laser-sighted shotguns for security of the Olympic Games. In all SureFire lights are very expensive but they are considered some of the most durable flashlights on the market. And probably the most durable highly mass produced light. On their site they clearly state “SureFire products are designed and built in the USA.” Most of their products including sound suppressors, rifle magazines, hearing protection, 123A batteries, and pens are proudly marked with “Made in the U.S.A.” When It comes to flashlights it is a little different. They do machine U.S.-sourced aluminum stock for their light bodies and components in Southern California. In addition to machining the bodies they assemble, test and ship lights from Southern California.
The SureFire EDCL1-T is one of our favorite EDC flashlights and different versions of it usually show up on our EDC flashlight buyers guide. This light has a great LED paired with a TIR lens to create a beautiful beam with decent throw and flood. It has two output levels, high which is 500 lumens and low which is 5 lumens. The main thing with SureFire, even though they do not have the super high lumens, is that they are crazy reliable. They are what the US military depend on to work when they really need it.Learn More On Amazon
Tektite is based out of Trenton, New Jersey. They say in their about us that their Tektite brand lights and strobes are made in the USA. They are known for having very durable lights and they even have lights that are rated at IP68M which means that they are virtually dust and waterproof up to 500 ft, that is deep.
This light is a unique light. It does not have the the brightest LED only coming in at 240 Lumens with a 5 Watt LED. But this light has a few unique things about it. First off it is IP68M to a depth of 2000 ft. That means that at almost half a mile of depth this flashlight will still work with its moving parts… Wow. Also, this light has a lens that produces a 6-degree beam making very much like a spotlight and able to cut though darkness. It also meets the FAA requirements for a commercial pilot's flashlight..Learn More On Amazon

Light & Motion
Light & Motion is based out of Marina, California. In their company video it is clear that they have production, testing, assembly, and design capabilities at their Marina, California location. But we also found that they had recently moved a bulk of their production to the Philippines after tariffs were put on light components from China into the U.S. but not on completed bike lights from China into the U.S.. Light & Motion had previously done most of the production in California but 70-80% of the components came from China. This put Light & Motion in the situation where they were being taxed considerably more than their competitors that were having their lights produced overseas. Light & Motion is on the higher end of lights. They focus on dive lights, bike lights, and photography lights.
This Light & Motion Urban 500 is named after its 500 lumen output that it can keep for 90 minutes. The light two lower brightness levels and a 125 lumen pulse mode for increased visibility on the road. Some of the key points of the Urban is its durability and reliability. So there is our list. It is a little disheartening that so much of the production of goods is outside of the country. But, the United States labor force is expensive. On the other side of the coin it is great to see that so many companies are US companies, high value jobs of sales, design, and other creative parts of companies are still here. The lower end jobs are out of the country. This should actually inspire people to make themselves more valuable in their skill sets instead of making them upset that the work went out of the country. Bottom line is that to produce the exact same product in the USA would cost at least twice as much in labor due to lots of things. So not many flashlights are made in the USA, especially when you consider LED production.
We are glad that you ended up here at besttacticalflashlights.net and we hope that you were able to find what you were looking for here.
